Cold forming explained
Nieland’s cold forming technology produces double curved hull panels eight times faster than line heating. This is achieved by the combination of bending and stretching the panels. One Nieland SBP press allows you to perform both operations, using dedicated tools.

Line heating
Line heating is based on shrinking certain areas of the plate, creating the plates required shape. Shrinking occurs when the heated areas on the plate are heated and cooled down simultaneously.Cold forming
Cold forming is based on stretching certain areas of the plate by means of rolling or pressing which will elongate designated areas on the plate.Conclusion
The areas which have shrunk during line heating are exactly those areas which are not affected during cold forming, hence “reverse technologies.”
